Fisker Ocean subject to massive £15k price cut, but there’s a big catch

Fisker offers up to £15,000 off, but there’s ambiguity around future aftersales support and warranty provision amid financial struggles and investment setbacks.

In a significant move, the existing UK stocks of the Fisker Ocean SUV are now subject to substantial price reductions, with buyers able to secure savings of up to £15,000 on the recently launched electric SUV.

These reductions apply across all three versions of the Fisker Ocean and are accompanied by decreases in the cost of select optional extras. However, if you’re considering taking advantage of these massive savings, the young EV brand is warning all buyers that warranty, servicing and aftersales support on the car may soon not be available due to the brand's ambiguous future.

Fisker has reduced prices across the range, the most notable of which is with the Ocean Extreme which has seen a reduction of £14,000, bringing its starting price down to £43,900. The Ocean Extreme offers up to 440 miles from a powerful 113kWh battery pack, all-wheel drive capability, and a rapid 0-62mph acceleration in just 3.9 seconds, it offers a compelling proposition at this new price. This makes the Ocean Extreme not only cheaper than the Tesla Model Y but exceeds the Teslas range. Similarly, the mid-range Ocean Ultra and the entry-level Ocean Sport have also received significant price cuts of £12,000 and £6,000, now available from £38,900 and £30,900, respectively.

Behind the excitement of these price reductions lies a sobering reality and buyers should proceed with caution. Fisker is facing uncertainties surrounding its future, raising concerns about the availability of aftersales support. Fisker has put out a statement saying that, “due to the current economic situation of the manufacturer Fisker Group Inc. and the Fisker sales companies in Europe, there is a risk of limited support and limited services for the vehicles”. The company also reinforced the risk by adding that: “Buyers must expect a permanent loss of the enforceability of claims for material defects and warranty claims”.

These uncertainties have been exacerbated recently as Fiskers search for investment appear to have drawn a blank with talks between a significant car manufacturer - rumoured to be Nissan - failed. The suspension of trading in Fisker shares on the New York Stock Exchange and reports suggesting the possibility of bankruptcy filings have further added to the uncertainty surrounding the company's future.

In response to these challenges, Fisker has taken proactive steps, including the temporary halt of production of the Ocean SUV at Magna facilities in Austria. As potential buyers evaluate the attractiveness of the new discounted prices against the risks associated with uncertain aftersales support, the future trajectory of the Fisker Ocean remains uncertain.
