Peugeot E-5008 electric seven-seater due in March: Watch out Kia EV9!

Peugeot’s electric seven-seater will get a 21-inch infotainment screen, as well as a range possibly in excess of 400 miles

The electric seven-seater market is about to get another strong contender, as Peugeot has teased the all-new E-5008 SUV ahead of its reveal in March.

Due to be positioned above the five-seat E-3008 in the French brand’s line-up, the new Peugeot E-5008 is set to be much more spacious than its smaller sibling, with new teaser images revealing its next-generation ‘i-Cockpit’ interior, as well as its seven-seat layout.

Like the Peugeot E-3008, the E-5008’s ‘i-Cockpit’ will comprise a huge 21-inch curved screen to cocoon the driver and sit above a small, squared-off steering wheel. In addition to this, the E-5008 will also get a separate ‘i-Toggle’ display, which essentially acts as an array of customisable shortcut buttons, enabling the driver to quickly access their most-used functions.

The teaser images also show that, just like the E-3008, the E-5008 will be offered with Alcantara suede upholstery – perhaps not the most practical option for a family car that’s bound to be full of small children with sticky fingers. Peugeot has stated that the third row will be “easy to access”, though, with the cabin offering a “refined living room-like interior”.

Despite being larger than the E-3008 – heavily disguised test cars suggest the E-5008 will have a much boxier shape than its comparatively slinky smaller sibling – Peugeot’s electric seven-seater will share that car’s STLA Medium underpinnings.

With this in mind, we expect the E-5008 to utilise the same battery and electric motor configurations, too. Entry-level cars will get a 79kWh battery for a range in excess of 300 miles, while top-spec E-5008 models could even be able to crack the 400-mile mark thanks to their huge 98kWh packs. Base cars will only be available in single-motor form, while those with the larger battery will also be offered with a twin-motor, four-wheel drive system.

As mentioned, the Peugeot E-5008 will be revealed in March and is due to go on sale before the end of 2024. Given the E-3008 starts from £45,850, we expect the seven-seat Peugeot E-5008 to start from just over £50,000 when it goes on sale – potentially undercutting the EV9, as well as other rivals like the Mercedes EQB.
