Porsche Panamera hybrid boot space & seating

The Panamera hybrid isn't quite as practical or spacious as a conventional luxury saloon, but as a 'four-door sports car' it does very well

The whole idea of the Panamera is to offer most of the performance and excitement of a sports car like the Porsche 911, but in a more practical four-seater body with a larger boot. It mostly succeeds in this effort, but that doesn't change the fact that a regular high-performance luxury saloon, such as an AMG-tuned Mercedes S-Class, is bigger and more comfortable inside.

Porsche Panamera hybrid interior space, storage & comfort

The Panamera's sloping roofline means rear-seat headroom is at a bit of a premium for taller adults, but the large and comfortable rear seats will be welcomed. Carrying a third person in the back isn't possible unless you pay extra for the '+1' middle rear seat – and even that is only really suitable for kids or smaller adults.

Space and storage up front are excellent, with a plethora of cubbies and cup holders for the driver and front-seat passenger to keep their coffee cups, mobile phones and road-trip paraphernalia in. Seat comfort is also good, but if you do a lot of long journeys you may want to pay extra and upgrade to the 14- or even 18-way adjustable seats on the options list, to ensure you can find the most comfortable and best supported driving position.

Boot space

The Panamera E-Hybrids actually have less luggage capacity than non-hybrid Panamera models: 403 versus 495 litres. The boot is long rather than deep, but it's still more than capable of swallowing a few suitcases or a healthy haul of shopping. There's 1,242 litres with the rear seats folded down. One sore point, however, is the lack of a dedicated box or tray for the car's charging cable.
