Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo reliability & safety rating

Although there's no specific Euro NCAP crash-test rating for the Taycan Cross Turismo, the saloon's five-star score is a good sign

Reliability & safety rating rating

While the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo has yet to go through Euro NCAP crash-testing, we have no doubt it’ll be as safe as the regular Taycan, which received a five-star rating back in 2019.

Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo reliability & problems

The Taycan Cross Turismo didn’t feature in the top 75 cars in the 2023 Driver Power survey, but the Porsche brand as a whole performed very well indeed. For the third year in a row, it was ranked the best car manufacturer by owners, with an overall score of 91.27%.

Being a maker of sporty cars, Porsche perhaps unsurprisingly was commended for performance and fun handling. In fact, Porsche was rated the best overall for steering response, road handling and driving pleasure by owners in the 2023 survey. It wasn’t a clean sweep across the board, though: Porsche drivers weren’t as impressed with their cars’ fuel economy and servicing costs and, while build quality was seen to be very good, 37% of owners said they’d experienced a fault with their car.

At the time of writing, the Taycan Cross Turismo has been recalled twice. The first was for a software fault that caused loss of power in some cars made before June 2021, while the second from May 2022 issued a fix for a wiring harness that could get caught when adjusting the front seats.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the Cross Turismo includes airbags and driver aids like a rear-end collision alert system, which warns following traffic of potential collisions by continuously measuring the Taycan’s speed and that of the vehicle behind. However, we’d like to see adaptive cruise control and traffic-sign recognition included as standard, rather than lurking in the expensive ‘InnoDrive’ package.

As mentioned above, the Taycan Cross Turismo hasn’t gone through Euro NCAP’s battery of crash testing yet, but it’s unlikely to score lower than the five stars the regular Taycan received. Its saloon sister recorded impressive adult and child occupant protection results of 85% and 83% respectively.
