Toyota Yaris Cross hybrid reliability & safety rating

Toyota's excellent track record for reliability and the Yaris Cross' five-star crash-test rating bode well here

The Yaris Cross went through Euro NCAP crash-testing in late 2021, securing the maximum five-star rating. That wasn't surprising given the closely related Yaris hatchback’s five-star rating, which was awarded in 2020. Similarly, Toyota's excellent reliability record gives us confidence that the Yaris Cross should be trouble-free to own.

Toyota Yaris Cross hybrid reliability & problems

You needn’t worry about reliability when it comes to the Yaris Cross. While it hasn’t been on the road long enough to get any solid data from owners about common issues, Toyota as a brand performed well in the 2022 Driver Power survey, and so did the Yaris hatchback – the Yaris Cross’ sister car.  The latest version of the Yaris hatchback ranked 22nd out of 75 cars on the list of best cars to own, while Toyota came 10th in the manufacturer table, with owners praising their cars' build quality, reliability and fuel economy.

Safety

The Yaris Cross comes as standard with the Toyota Safety Sense package and other driver-assistance systems. This allows the car to recognise hazards and in certain cases initiate steering and braking to avoid collisions. Road-sign assist, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control and driver attention alert are also standard.

The Toyota is also available with extra safety features as part of several options packs. The City Pack includes, among other additional features, a 360-degree panoramic view monitor and semi-automated parking, while the Advanced Safety Pack includes rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring as well.
